Cling to Life
Chapter #10
The three kids curled up to "sleep," as they had told Yuhed, but we all know they planned on talking for a while...

"I hate being here," said Forest as she edged closer to Quenum. Forest had never been very comfortable at the temple. Matt and Quenum rolled their eyes as they felt right at home here.

Quenum shoved Forest over jokingly, saying "Get over it, you big baby!" Matt agreed, but grumbled that he couldn't do what he was talking about NOW, seeing as he was in a church and all.

Forest looked at Quenum in surprize. But Quenum's eyes were closed and she appeared to be asleep. She had never said anything like that before.

-Quenum....- Forest started.

-Yes?- Quenum's mind was quite awake.

-I didn't think you were asleep, if we ever felt better than you'd never go to sleep.- She sighed. -And this feeling...-

-Forest, I've told you, our goddess is quite real. I've seen-

Forest cut her off before she could finish. -YOUR goddess, I have nothing to do with 'it.'-

Quenum opened her eyes to look at her.

-Quenum, I know your goddess means a lot to you, but it doesn't feel right to me. I mean, she tells you to love everyone and everything, and then she turns around and tells you to hate Belzar and everything about him. Don't you find that a bit strange?-

Quenum looked at Matt and then back at her sister almost pleadingly. Forest didn't stop.

-What about Belzar's people? How do you know that they're really evil? They could simply be misguided. They might look at us as being evil and them as being good. Maybe they don't even know the difference. They've been raised that way, they don't know any different.-

-Ok, ok, you made your point. But you've seen the church services with me....what is it that makes the smoke, who's the glowing person that comes to us? We're our goddesses only people, it makes sense for her do these things.-

-I don't know, I just don't know. It doesn't add up.- She yawned, -I'm tired, lets go to sleep, we can talk later. -

-Ok, good night Forest.-

-Nite, Quenum.-

Forest closed her eyes, lying there untill she could fall asleep. Quenum thought about waking up Matt, but decided he couldn't handle it, not yet. Instead she stayed there shifting her gaze from Matt back to her sister and back again. She finally ended up staring at a tapestry on the wall, depicting the goddesses crown.
